Black Sabbath - Paranoid (Classic Albums) (Eagle Vision)
Classic Albums is an absolutely fantastic concept. Paranoid is a record responsible for Black Sabbath reaching the mainstream, and pretty much staying there. It’s a very heavy album that spawned three classic tracks. The title cut of course, War Pigs, and Iron Man. These are the songs you’ll always see Black Sabbath play, and you’ll always hear them on the radio. Then there were the lesser known tracks such as Fairies Wear Boots, or Planet Caravan, or Hand of Doom. Strong songs, and well respected by the Black Sabbath fans. All in all, this record certainly fits the category of the series.
This DVD explores the behind the scenes of creating this milestone record. The interviews with the band members are great, and very revealing, as are the interviews with the producer. One can learn a lot of Black Sabbath trivia just from watching this DVD. There are a lot of questions answered, some in very simple way. It’s a shame shows like that are only surfacing now, but better late than never.
The dissection of Paranoid is extremely enjoyable. It’s a great journey inside the minds of its creators. I’d love to see other Black Sabbath records get similar treatments.
