Crowded House - Intriguer (Fantasy) ****

Crowded House is a very interesting band. It's hard to pin them down to any particular style, but they certainly write good music. They always had that emotional side to their songs, and dwelled on the sensitivity of the listener. And that should be enough to give this band a try. Crowded House had some big hits in the 80s, but it was the consistency of their records that earned them a solid fan base.

"Intriguer" is the second album since reforming, and it looks like they are back for good. The album is filled with ten tracks of varied moods. Of course there are tracks that have that hit quality. Songs such as "Amsterdam," or "Twice If You're Lucky" should have no problem reaching the airwaves. But on the other hand, rock radio's format may or may not include any new music from an established artist.

Crowded House made a great record. The more you listen to it the more it makes sense. The songwriting is still strong here. And as long as you have that, the sky is the limit.
