Emerson Lake & Palmer - 40th Anniversary Reunion Concert 2010 (MVD Visual)
This reunion was a really big deal in the progressive world. ELP of course played a big role in establishing the scene in the 70s, and then again returning briefly in the 90s. The individual members are active on their own, but there was no ELP group activity for over a decade. This was a welcomed return.
The band appeared to be very well rehearsed, and prepared for this one off reunion. Part of the preparation was a small tour organized by Greg Lake and Keith Emerson playing ELP classics, and telling anecdotes about the songs. Carl Palmer is actively drumming with Asia and his solo band, so he is in the top notch shape. Needless to say these three players were absolutely outstanding on the day of the show, and this DVD can attest to that.
ELP played a great show, and touched upon their best known musical pieces. One could argue, they didn't do this or that, but there is a lot of music in the 2 hour show to satisfy any ELP fan. The performance is driven, the band is obviously enjoying the experience. The show has a real good vibe. It's a shame they couldn't hold it together for more shows, or perhaps a tour, but that's the nature of this beast.
