Girlschool - Hit And Run-Revisited ((UDR) ****

This is a re-recording of Girlschool's "Hit And Run," an album they released back in 1981. These girls rocked back in 1981, and they do so in 2012. The band knows this material inside out, they've played it for the last 30 years, so it's no surprise the performance is superb. The band plays in a very inspired way, the songs just fly and throw punches.

The band was recently stricken with a tragedy when singer/guitarist, Kelly Johnson died of cancer in 2007. This release, and the fact Girlschool is still soldiering on keeps Johnson's legacy and memory alive and well.

"Hit And Run Revisited" is a great release. It reminds everyone how great the early 80s were for this kind of music, and may even attract some new fans. Of course there'll be those who will argue the point of this album coming out in the first place, when the original is still vital. And nobody disputes the point, yet this rocks hard, and sounds like the girls had fun putting it together. And who could argue with that?
