JPT Scare Band - Acid Blues is a White Man’s Burden (Ripple Music) ****1/2
JPT Scare Band is one of those less known psychedelic bands. Despite the lesser known factor, the band is truly fantastic. This release spans from the tracks the band recorded back in the 1970s to now. Having heard JPT Scare Band before I knew what I was in for, but I’m certainly blown away by this release as well.
From the first track, this just rocks you hard. All of the songs have a serious build up, and the structures develop as the band jams on these tracks. JPT Scare Band is not afraid of taking chances with their material, and by doing so they do come out sounding victorious.
Many labels can be applied to what JPT Scare Band is doing, and just about any label would fit. Call it rock, psychedelic, hard rock/metal, or whatever else. All of it is reflected in the music. JPT Scare Band is perhaps rock’s most hidden treasure. You’ll be a fool not to investigate here.
