Marillion - Live From Cadogan Hall (Eagle Vision)
This is a very stripped down Marillion doing an acoustic show. The live CD from this show was a good preparation as to what is to come. The DVD however proved to be very revealing, and eye opening. The care that went into this performance was very impressive, it's something a live CD cannot express. The visual factor here makes you appreciate the band even more. It's unbelievable to see how much little details were included into the performance, and the lengths the band went to make sure it is included.
The concert is beautifully filmed, and the venue is just ideal to create one of a kind mood. There is a strong level of concentration of both sides of the stage. All of the material comes from Steve Hogarth era, and it all makes sense to keep it under one coat. The songs appear connected stylistically that way. And let's face it, Mariilion is a different beast nowadays then they were back in the early 80s. Those days were great, but are gone for good.
Marilion mutated into a great band, and after years of experimenting, found a new identity and style. It's great to see this band still taking forward steps, and creating exciting music.
