Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (Columbia/Legacy) Deluxe Edition

Another great album receives a royal treatment. "Bitches Brew" is a milestone jazz release, and it crosses over into rock very nicely. The album is full of attitude and overtones that could work in any setting. Much had been said about the greatness of this record, and the album continues to inspire generations to come. Not bad for a record released back in 1970. On the other hand, a very fruitful time for milestone release all across the board.

Apart from the regular album tracks, there are six bonus tracks taken from the sessions, or single edits. Let's not forget, "Bitches Brew" was recently released in even more expanded form, highlighting the sessions. What set's this release apart from the other, is the addition of a DVD with a live performance from 1969. It's great to see Miles Davis and the band performing in their prime, and already playing sections from the record. It's a great document into a record that clearly stood the test of time. Also, the graphic part of the package is very well done, and the notes are clear and informative, full of details. A labor of love indeed.
