Status Quo-Pictures - Live at Montreux 2009

The Live at Montreux series are absolutely great. Not only do we get the latest performances from the well established artists, but there is plenty of vintage shows finally seeing the light of day. This however is the latest from Status Quo. Being based in the United States, one can rarely see the band on this side of the Atlantic. Status Quo is alive and well, and still not showing any signs of slowing down. This performance is as energetic as any witnessed by these boogie mongers. Status Quo plays undisputed high energy rock’n’roll and appears to be proud doing just that. They sure look older, and Francis Rossi’s signature pony tail is now a history, but that’s not even that relevant. What is relevant is the fact that Parfitt and Rossi still have well functioning wrists, and are able to give their guitars a solid strumming.

This DVD shows Status Quo playing all their hits to the enjoyment of their fans. In fact, several songs are combined in a medley, so everyone can hear all their favorites. Apart from the great show, the DVD includes interviews with Rossi and Parfitt. Both men appear to be very easy going lads, much like their music portrays them, no visible attitudes can be observed. All of it orchestrated and produced by “funky” Claude Nobs. This is the same man Deep Purple immortalized in Smoke on the Water. Nice addition to any Status Quo collection, and a great life-line for those on the other side of the Atlantic.
