Suzi Quatro - In The Spotlight (Cherry Red Records) ****1/2
Suzi Quatro, the undisputed queen of glam rock, rocks hard! Even at 60 years of age, she shows no signs of slowing down. Her voice is still sounding great, and her signature style shines through. If you liked Suzi before, you won't be disappointed, and if you're new to this seasoned performer, fasten your seat belt.
"In The Spotlight" is a fine record, filled with catchy songs, and raw energy. While Quatro is a complete unknown in the U.S. which is her native country. Well, except maybe for the appearances as Leather Tuscadero in Happy Days. She's made a great career overseas, especially in Europe and Japan, where she is a household names. With plenty of hits under her belt, Quatro is now considered a classic performer, but don't let the label fool you. She is far from done, and with a record like this one, she is back where she belongs, on top.
The album is filled with hard rocking tunes, and Quatro keeps the energy level at 10, sometimes even 11. Stylistically, the album is very even, it follows the well known formula, but it works great! Suzi Quatro is just being herself, and that's exactly what the fans want! The album will definitely do what the title suggests, it will once again put Suzi Quatro in the spotlight!
