Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Mojo (Reprise) ***

Tom Petty tries the blues formula here with very good effects. Mojo however is not your typical Petty release. There no obvious hits here. It’s a much scaled down affair, and it caters to a certain type of a listener. Petty fans will obviously eat this up, but anyone else looking for some catchy hits will be left empty handed.

Mojo is a great example of a band doing something to satisfy their cravings. The music here is still great, and it flows very nicely. It shows the band with very strong roots digging slightly deeper than usually.

The artistry of this record comes with state of the art musicality. The band is really playing well, and it certainly comes from the heart. There is a fair amount of joy and sincerity on this album. And that’s good enough for any music-loving fan.
