Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones (Century Media) ****1/2

Triptykon is of course a new project from Tom G. Warrior. After the sad ending of Celtic Frost, Tom assembled Triptykon. At one point the band included former Frost drummer Reed St. Mark. The drummer however did not make it to the final version featured here on this album.

The music here is very logical, if you’ve heard the last Celtic Frost album. Eparistera Daimones is a natural continuation and progression of what Celtic Frost started upon its reformation. This is a very dark album, and leaves no space for the light to shine. Yet, the sounds are very refined, and sonically challenge the listener. The echoes of the former glories are very much here, and there really is no escape.

There are plenty of new elements here as well, as an artist, Tom Warrior, is marching forward, and there is no denying that. The natural heaviness and the avant-garde element make this one of a kind release. No sound here is accidental, yet they're all scary and haunting. Triptykon delivers the goods, and the new chapter is open, and after all only death is real.
