Ultravox’s definitive edition series are now expanded by two more titles. Quartet and Monument are the two newest reissues to receive the royal treatment. Both released as double disc sets. Quartet comes as a re-mastered package. The first disc is the original 1982 album. It’s the second disc that is filled with rarities. Much of the material is just different versions of the tracks from Quartet, and live recordings from 1982. Many of these extended versions were only available on maxi-singles, so it’s nice to have them here all in one place. Monument was a live mini album, and for a long time it was a very difficult to find release. The live recording here is expanded by one track, but it’s the second disc that’s a real treat. In fact, it’s a DVD of the concert taken from a VHS released back in the 80s. Up until now, it was a collector’s item. The booklets are very simple, yet quite artistic, and both come in a nice slipcase. Quartet and Monument show Ultravox (Midge Ure line up) in top notch form. The music still sounds powerful and catchy. Also, the band recently reunited for a British tour.
