Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run (Concord Music Group)

Only few years ago "Band On The Run" was re-mastered, but this version takes it a few steps further. Not only do you get the actual record, but an additional CD of rare tracks and a DVD. All of it lavishly packaged in a digipack. Let's not forget about the photos, and some very informative liner notes.

"Band On The Run" was the album that captured the essence of post Beatles McCartney. A strong release all the way through, many of its tracks still present in McCartney's set list. The music here is timeless, and simply does not get old. The re-mastering certainly makes the tracks feel very fresh.

The second disc is just rare unreleased tracks from the same time frame. It's a very nice collection of songs, very supplementary to he entire mindset of "Band On The Run." On the other hand it's very clear why these songs are bonus songs, but never the less it is still strong material.

The DVD is essential. You finally get the 1974 documentary titled "One Hand Clapping." Perhaps the most bootlegged Paul McCartney item. In addition, the DVD is packed with some great clips, very rare. Amounting to nearly 90 minutes, it's an amazing treat to any Paul McCartney fan.

"Band On The Run" is a truly fantastic reissue. It certainly beats any other versions out there. Also, a small flyer in the package is advertising other McCartney albums getting similar treatment. An exciting news indeed.
